Get to know Biodiversity | Scorpions
Christoph Hörweg (NHM Wien) & Martin Scheuch (Universität Wien)
How did a scorpion end up in Krems? The story of the Trieste scorpion…
Scorpions have been around in Austria for a long time and have many stories to tell. Notorious for their poisonous sting alone, they were once traded as commodities but are now highly endangered or even threatened with extinction. Where and how can you find these creatures that live in hiding? Visit the museum in January to learn more about the ‘Kremser scorpion’, from its history to its biology. And how can Citizen Science help scientists to better understand its distribution?
